A Little Bit of Spring
Despite the snow
and the freezing rain that
turned off our electricity
our orchid has bloomed!
Since the flower first put out buds
before Thanksgiving
we have been looking for blossoms.
But only in the darkness
and cold of February
(in a house with no heat and no electricity for two days)
did it bloom.
I call that a mircle:
A little bit of spring
in the aftermath
of an ice storm.
