Impatiently waiting . . .

Maybe.
Our orchid
is a wonderful plant
green and vibrant
putting up a single
purple shoot
on which the buds
grow ever fatter,
ever more numerous.
It is intoxicating in its
possibilities.
Since before Christmas
the buds
have been there.
All through
January
the Buds have grown ever bigger..
What are they waiting for?
Spring?
Maybe.

Come hiking

Explorer
Frost is gone
from the storm door
no more  of Jack Frost's
swirls and whorls and twirls
remain to entice
us into a snowy wonderland.
Now I can look out
and enjoy
remnants of the last
snow fall.
The forest below the house
is filled with vibrant evergreens
and barely noticeable
deer paths
that invite
a hike of exploration.
So I put on my boots
dress warmly
and am off
exploring.

My sleep ended early today. . . .

Wake Up
Inexplicably
a paw
comes
under
the bedroom door
then a "meow."
Come play with me.
Go away.
Meow.
Go away.
Meow.
Oooookaaay
You win.

It promises to be one of THOSE nights . . . .

Near Corinth, After Midnight
In the deep of night
when only
moon and stars
are visible,
it is the
occasional
dog bark
that reminds me
that the world is
populated with people.

Wintery invitation

Frost
Intricate icy swirls and patterns
on the inside of the storm door
are God's way of inviting us
to come outside and admire
the rest of his creation.

On Wednesday Jan. 28th there is an Alzheimer's Awareness rally in Frankfort: Please support that cause. Help eliminate the losses that come to those families and individuals who must watch as memory by memory, skill by skill, and joy by joy a loved one slips slowly away. And if you can't go to Frankfort then just give a dollar or two to your local Alzheimer's Association.

funny, straight forward and honest. After having success with online dating myself I could totally relate to the book right from page one... Made me laugh and made me think back about my own online disasters before finding true love :)
